"In Celebration of Our 20-Day Suspension..."

Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale

That's quite a mouthful. Here's the story according to Wikipedia:

"In 2005 the Sonoma County Brewery's license was suspended for 20 days when the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control witnessed marijuana consumption at one of the Brewery's parties. This suspension followed an eight-week undercover operation by the department when ABC officers attended Brewery open house events where they enjoyed the free music, free food, and inexpensive beers, offered by the Brewery to attendees. Sometimes even to the point of over indulgence and then being cut-off by the bar staff due to intoxication. Having done the 'crime', and completed their 'time', the Brewery exercised their first amendment rights and chose to commemorate this event by producing a special release of a now-popular strong ale called "The Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale". Its label includes a libertarian polemic satirizing the authorities and over zelous and selective enforcement."

Awesome.

That's awesome. If you search back through the blug I listed a bunch of stuff of the lagunitas labels, including the undercover ale. They make some pretty good beers, and the local beer store keeps slowly turning over their stock with new ones every so often, which is nice.
