New Beer Thursday

New Beer Thursday is a cool untapped badge, a cool website, a cool facebook page and a cool idea.  I already live the idea I guess, considering I am at level 8 on this badge.  Which means pretty consistently having a new beer every Thursday at least 3 weeks out of the month (as well as just about every other day).  But I would love the ability to be online sharing a beer each Thursday with fellow beer drinkers.  Having guest drinkers over.  Posting about it.  The whole nine yards.  I envision a set up in my man cave similar to Wayne's world, but with guitar hero and rock band instead of real instruments.  And a beer dispenser instead of a licorice dispenser.  Ahhhhh, one can dream.  I think I have everything I need except time and a podcast.

On an unrelated note, Nate is heading to Ireland as we speak.  Everyone join me in saying "You Lucky SOB!" since he will be in Ireland and other parts of Europe during St Patrick's Day and the following week.  How cool is that?  So don't expect any more posts from him in awhile.  That one he did last month is all you get for a bit...

Doing better

I've been doing better about going overboard on beer purchases.  My ondeck circle and celler/closet are down to a manageable level, right about 50 beers instead of 80-100.  That of course doesn't include the 20 or so beers in the fridges I have already tried before and bought extras.  Or the 10+ cases of homebrew 22s and 12s in the closet.  Or the three partially full corny kegs I still have on tap.

But like a famous movie line once said "after this case and that case and the next one, we only have two more cases left."  "AHHHH, We're out of beer!"  (or something like that)

Russian River

Russian River tasting at the Green Dragon in Portland last night.  Got to taste Pliny the Elder (still excellent) and for the first time Pliny the Younger (also excellent).  As well as a farmhouse and two sours (all three great, the sours were mindblowing).  And we had their Blind Pig IPA which was great and a few other beers on tap.  Drinking 6-10 oz of each meant we could have plenty of kinds.  Which was awesome.  And could follow it up with a trip across the street to Cascade Brewing Barrel House for some 2oz tastes of a few sours.  And those were equally mindblowing.  I came to the realization that I need to travel to Portland more often for dinner/drinks and stop being so lame and staying in town all the time.  It's not that far, and I am a dumb ass for not realizing it sooner.

Not gone, just busy

We are chief no post.

We are doing another tasting this weekend, but with the creation of a facebook page our attention has shifted to an easier medium to get the word out.

But we may still come back here occasionally until we can get everything here to there.
