"Bring Some Home For The Wives!"

"Why Have Just One?"

That's the tagline from Wasatch Beers Polygamy Porter, my selection today. You've got to respect a brewery in Utah that makes fun of their heritage, even if their porter is only 4% abv.

I picked up a few gems when I was in San Diego from the 13th to 15th catching sharks (though none as big as last year). Most notable is the Ballast Point lineup, which I'm still working through since I was able to bring a few 22's home with me in my checked baggage. I'm a bit biased since all their brews are named after fish, but they do make some really good beers. Their Yellowtail Pale Ale is a perennial favorite of mine. In addition, I had to try the Red Trolley Ale from Karl Strauss; another San Diego local brew.
Other than that, just a few random micros and imports filling the other slots since my last post. Dicko was nice enough to treat me to a visit to his local specialty beer store last Thursday, where I picked out a beer called Harar from Ethiopia. It was actually pretty tasty, despite the thick layer of sludge in the bottom of the bottle. I spotted a few other beers I hadn't seen elsewhere while we were at the Red House, so I think I'll find myself making a shopping trip to the south end again soon.
