I like Lagunitas

Last night I finally did some weeding. Weeding sucks balls. But my back yard and alley look better now. Then I had a West Coast IPA from Green Flash Brewing. This beer will be at brewfest (I was going down the list a few days back), and I would recommend trying it, although be warned its hella bitter. It was okay, but not the perfect beer after working outside and with homemade chilli.

But the Lagunitas Lucky 13 22oz I had after that was perfect with the Chilli. It was in fact very very good, another Ruby Red, and the 5th Lagunitas beer I have tried, and they have all been outstanding. I'm going to Cali next week, and I plan to find and drink more of them while I am there.

Nate's Beer #83

After arriving home last night I immediately made my way to the fridge and cracked open a refreshing McMenamin's Ruby that I had in there. I was thirsty from my drive home and easily finished that beer in a couple of minutes.
After making my way back to the fridge I decided on the McMenamin's Sunflower IPA. As of late, I have been drinking quite a few IPAs. The Sunflower is up there near the top of them all. On their website they describe it like this "McMenamins Sunflower IPA was first introduced in the summer of 1995 at our West Linn brewery. Inspired by the bountiful sunflowers grown in the pub's beer garden, our IPA has a deep golden color and distinct yet subtle citrus flavors that satisfy both the diehard IPA drinker and those who prefer a lighter palate. Sunflower IPA is truly a beer for the masses."
Yes it is. And in other McMenamin-related news, it sounds like they may be eyeing a location in nearby Kalama for a new restaurant. It sounds like all the talk is still in the early stages but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Beer 83 - 5/9

SLO Brewing's Amber was my 83rd beer, generously provided by the Trout. He's a good man, I don't care what the rumors are here at work, except for the one about his, a gopher, some duct tape and a car battery, that's just gross.

Nate's Beer #82

Last night on my way home I decided to stop and see if I could find a beer that I haven't had yet. What I ended up grabbing was Redhook's spring seasonal Copper Hook. And I was pleasantly surprised. Great, easy going beer that had a little bit of a citrus flavor.
I checked out Redhook's website this morning and discovered that this beer's availibility runs from January to April so I'm glad I grabbed one when I did. On the site they describe it as follows "With it's brilliant copper color, light maltiness, pleasant hop aroma, and distinctive citrus flavor, Copperhook is a perfect companion to warmer temps and longer nights. "
And since it's packing a very solid 5.7% ABV it made me feel happy. I thought it was pretty damn tasty so you should check it out if you get a chance.

Sunday it was time for a few more coronas, cause if you already have cut limes, it is a shame to let them go to waste. After they were gone it was time for a couple of Dick's: the Lava Rock Porter Sunday and the Working Man's Brown Ale Monday. Tonight was time for that busty red head Siletz Red Ale. I have been eyeing this beauty for the last couple days since I drank the 22 that was in front of it in the fridge. And it was worth the wait. This beer is the best beer I have had this month, and that's saying something after the couple brown ales that I thought were pure money. I think you can probably find these in Portland since I saw a few Siletz at Nate and Ed's, and I recommend picking one up. It's almost as good as McMenamins' Ruby. No shit. Last I am gonna go grab an Alaskan IPA, cause Nate says its good, and that little bright ass green cap keeps calling my name.

Nate's Beer #81

Last night I decided to have a new Alaskan IPA. After checking it out on the website, I discovered that this beer is a special edition that the brewed for the brewery's 21st birthday.

Their site describes it like this "Alaskan IPA offers a fruity, citrus aroma, with a medium body and a clean, refreshing hop finish. Operations Manager Dave Wilson had a hand in refining the final recipe. “What characterizes this beer is its drinkability. We made Alaskan IPA to appeal equally to craft beer drinkers as well as hopheads,” Wilson said.

It was quite refreshing for an IPA. Check it out if you get a chance.

Nate's Beers #77-80

Beer #77 (Thursday)- I got home from work and cracked up a Firehouse 5 Steam Pumper IPA. I don't know what the deal is but I've been on one helluva IPA kick lately. And I've come to the realization that Steam Pumper IPA just may be the same stuff as Pizza Schmizza's IPA and Harvey Comedy Club's IPA. Since it's brewed by Portland Brewing I think I may be on to something here. More. Research. Needed.

Beer #78 (Friday)- As I was heading home to Portland my buddy Jack called and asked me if I'd like to join him for some disc golf and Pier Park. I said "fuck yeah" and made my way home, changed, grabbed my discs and some brews and made my way out to the park. I enjoyed a Fiddler's Green IPA (another one!) and followed that up with a couple of Broken Halos. Afterwards we headed back to Jack's were we enjoyed some Heines and a little chat with the coach.

Beer #79 (Saturday)- After Gus and I dominated at wiffleball (we're now 10-0) I made my way back up to Longview for a little Cinco de Drinko action. I stopped by the Guttormsen resident and had a Corona with Erik. After that we started in on my fifth of Milagro tequila. Over the course of the evening I would go on to finish said fifth. Good times (from what I remember)!

Beer #80 (Sunday)- Last night while sitting around watching TV I cracked open a brewski I had been saving for a while. It was a wonderful New Belgium 2 Below. Just like the other New Belgium brew's, it was delicious. I can't wait for Summer to get here and bring the lovely Skinny Dip seasonal with it....

Holy Grail Ale

So I was at the Red House Beer reatiler and they told me that they should be getting some of the Monty Python's Holy Gail Ale in soon, I'll keep an eye out for everyone.

In the meantime, i picked up a mixed "eight" pack of some Bison Brewing and Flying Dog.

5/2 - Flying Dog Pale Ale

5/4 - Flying Dog Dogtober
5/5 - Flying Dog Hound Bock - In my opinion, the best of the bunch. I actuall may go back and pick up a sixer of just this.
5/6 - Bison Belgian Ale
5/7 - Bison IPA
5/8 - Bison Red Ale - Not a huge red ale fan, but this wasnt too shabby.

The eighth beer was the Bison Chocolate Stout and I realized when I got home that I already had this and it sucked. So if anyone needs one of these, hollah!

Beers 171-175

Wednesday I had the Deschutes Buzzsaw Brown
Thursday was the Stone Arrogant Bastard. I felt very arrogant.

Tonight I am going to have a bunch of beers and go to dinner and go to see Spiderman 3 probably. I'm more excited for the beer.

Edit: Last night there were 3 packed theatres of spiderman fans, so we just had dinner instead. So instead of beers, I had lobster, crab, shrimp, steak, and some very good Pinot Noir. Capped by a Dick's Mountain Amber Ale and watching Clerks 2 which I still hadn't watched. That movie was some funny shit. I think I am going to head to Portland early for Wiffle, start on a few Tecates, and watch Clerks 2 again. After having a Dick's Best Bitter of course.

Nate's Beer #76

Last night my good friend Willie Nelson left me a couple of Widmer Broken Halo IPAs. I haven't had these in a while and thoroughly enjoyed the hoppiness of them. Great call Willie!

Nate's Beer #75

So last night I went for sushi dinner with my friends Margaux and Laura. As some of you may know, I love me some raw fish. Last night we went with a hot night roll, alaskan roll, spicy scallop roll and a rainbow roll (named after Dicko). The sushi was delish as always and I decided to down it with some Tiger! beer.
The beer was alright, kinda reminded me of Bud Light. The taste was just the right pairing for the sushi. It's just too bad I had to drive afterwards so I couldn't enjoy any sake-bombs!

Good Trout

The Trout gave me an Abita Amber a few weeks back and it got lost in the shuffle of my fridge. Found it, not too shabby.

Beers 168-170

I should hit 200 beers by next week, and then have training in California the week after that, so plan to hit 250 by the end of the month. Ouch, my liver just kicked me.

Last night was a Siletz Paddle Me IPA. Good stuff. Tonight is a couple 22s of Beck's, the regular and the dark. Regular I am sure everyone has had, nothing different, the Dark was kind of new, but not too different. It was good, wouldn't mind having it again although I don't think any bar carries it so would have to buy it in 22s at the store.
